Do Something New!
I first experienced flexible workplaces as a team member with Sun Microsystems. Grey cubicles * telecommuting * alternative work schedules * job sharing * global all hands meetings * team building * fun. Innovation and continuous improvement were the norm. Being planted in an environment of benchmarking waters the seeds of hard work and resilience but it can also enable busyness.
I foolishly believed I had to be and do everything to stay competitive. And, trying to be and do everything produced a never ending list of tasks. I quickly began to feel overwhelmed. I didn’t seem to have time to do the things I most enjoyed. I felt I was missing out on life. I grew weary and wanted to give up. This is when I heard a still, small voice saying “be still.”
Being still allowed me to rediscover the things that brought me joy. A door was opened to a new thing — a new way of working that created time for me to enjoy life again. I was able to focus my time and attention on tasks that I enjoyed and it became easier for me to delegate those tasks that did not.

So?
Why did it take me a decade
to truly embrace this new way of working?
My guess is it must be true...
